Robin's enthusiasm for all forms of music has resulted in an unusually varied selection of core repertoire. As well as championing new works, Robin has a passion for British early 20th-century orchestral music, and has a close relationship with the music of Arnold Bax, E.J. Moeran and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Robin is also a keen champion of less well represented composers, such as Ruth Gipps and Ina Boyle. He is also quickly becoming known as a stylish conductor of baroque and classical repertoire, comfortable directing both from the podium and the keyboard.
A keen advocate of contemporary music, Robin is active in commissioning and performing new works, such as his recent premiere of a new version of Gavin Higgins' Rough Voices.
Robin is a skilled opera conductor, reinforced by his strong language skills (chiefly French, German and Italian). Recent performances include a semi-staged version of Purcell's The Fairy Queen, and upcoming operatic highlights include a performance of RNCM's Il Nozze di Figaro in April 2022.
